Parque Nacional Otishi, plumaje juvenil, Aves, Grallaria occabambae
Birds in the first basic plumage are immatures, but are often mistakenly referred to as juveniles. True juvenile feathers are scant, fall off easily during preparation and have a lax structure, which make such specimens particularly prone to insect attack. Additionally, juveniles were probably shunned by hunters and dealers because of their less spectacular appearance. Antpittas of the genus Grallaria are no exception, with true juvenile plumage, barred in most but streaked or partly streaked in some species
