Aves, distribución, bosques montanos, Yanachaga
The Cordillera Yanachaga is the highest of a series of outlying ranges east of the main Andes in central Pero (Department of Pasco). The valley between the Yanachaga and the main Andean range has been settled for 100 to 150 years and contains some important collecting localities (e.g. Pozuzo). The Yanachaga itself, however, has remained unknown. From February to April 1982 we made the first ornithological surveys of the area, sponsored by the Louisiana State University Museum of Zoology (LSUMZ). This note publishes behavioral and distributional information on some of the more important records we obtained. In an appendix we present complete species lists for each of the three localities we studied intensively
